By Katie Lepi

We know you’re all excited about pi(e) day. Even if you don’t happen to be a math teacher, you can celebrate. Celebrate with pi or pie, whatever you prefer. If you are teaching about pi, we’ve put together a small collection of resources below. If you have any favorite resources or lesson plans that we haven’t included, you can weigh in down in the comments, by mentioning @edudemic on Twitter, or join the conversation on the Edudemic Facebook page.

  1. TeachPi.Org has quite possibly the largest variety of pi resources out there. As you’d probably assume from the name of the site.
  2. Visualize the first million digits of pi
  3. National Council of Teachers Of Mathematics Pi Day Resources
  4. MathWorld’s 35 Pi Resources
  5. Exploratorium’s Pi Day Resources. The exploratorium is a hands-on museum of science, art, and human perception in San Francisco. Physicist Larry Shaw founded pi day whilst working there.
  6. Learn About the history of Pi
  7. Learn about Larry Shaw, founder of pi day
  8. Read an interview with Larry Shaw and the other founders of pi day
  9. Did you know that pi day also happens to be Einstein’s birthday?
  10. Einstein’s alma mater, Princeton, hosts a crazy number of events to celebrate his birthday and pi day.
There are a ton of lesson plans about pi swimming around out there on the web. Here are just a few:
  1. Teachers First
  2. Teachervision
  3. Alabama Learning Exchange
  4. Avoision
  5. Exploratorium’s Pi Activities
